Vanishing Veins is committed to the care and treatment of venous disease. It is the only medical facility in Connecticut run by a board certified vascular surgeon who spends the majority of her time treating these conditions. Thus, it provides you with the best treatments for spider veins and varicose veins. Dr. Greenwald has spent her career in the treatment of diseases of the blood vessels, thereby uniquely qualifying her for this field. Her expertise was recognized by Money Magazine when they chose her as one of the top vascular surgeons in the United States and by the Consumer's Research Council of America when they chose her as one of America's Top Surgeons for Vascular Surgery. Not only is her competence unsurpassed but she also brings the sympathetic understanding of a woman to the care of her patients.
Vanishing Veins's commitment to meticulous care of venous disease means that we have on site a full time procedure room, a surgical tech, laser equipment and an ICAVL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories) accredited vascular laboratory with a full time registered vascular ultrasonographer. The availability of such equipment and personnel means that the professionals who treat you are extremely experienced in the treatment of your problem. It also means that we are constantly evaluating and being asked to evaluate new technologies. As an example we were one of the first facilities in the United States to evaluate and make available the revolutionary technology of Closure Fast - an exciting new development in the treatment of venous disease. Unlike other facilities that only dabble in the treatment of venous disease, our focus on these illnesses ensures that we can assess your problem with the detail that it deserves and treat it with the full array of modern therapies. This way we can design a treatment plan that is both exact and specific for you. At Vanishing Veins we understand that you deserve a relaxing and beautiful atmosphere in which to receive the state of the art medical treatments that we provide. We have made our facility more like a spa than a medical office. From the moment you enter your senses are lulled by beautiful music and the sound of a waterfall. You can pamper yourself with designer coffees and teas and other treats. The staff has been chosen for their attention to patient care and comfort. At Vanishing Veins we understand that you are busy and respect your time completely. Our location in Bloomfield, Connecticut was carefully chosen so that our facility is conveniently located to virtually all of Connecticut. We are within a few minutes' drive of anywhere in the bordering towns of Avon, Simsbury, West Hartford, Granby, Windsor and Hartford and within easy proximity to the surrounding locales. We are also within a few minutes' drive of those areas often referred to as "east of the river". Routes 91, 384, 84 and 9 are each just a short distance away, meaning that almost all areas of Connecticut and Southern Massachusetts are within easy driving distance of our offices. With Vanishing Veins so easy to reach there's no need to take a long car ride to achieve the beautiful legs that you deserve. The Aesthetic Center
In 2008 The Aesthetic Center at Vanishing Veins opened in response to the needs and requests of our patients. In this portion of our practice we offer a wider array of aesthetic and cosmetic services, bringing the same painstaking attention we have brought to venous disease to these related procedures. We now offer laser and intense pulse light treatments for leg veins, facial veins, hair removal, skin rejuvenation and will soon offer skin tightening and fractional resurfacing. We also offer treatment with Botox® and fillers as well as microdermabrasion, Dermalinfusion®, chemical peels, Skinceuticals® physician grade skin care lines and Colorescience® mineral makeup. This array of therapies constitutes the most complete menu of aesthetic services in the Hartford area and it is all administered under the supervision of the nationally renowned Dr. Lori Greenwald.
Our Staff Annette Cruz, MSc Physicians Assistant Studies, BSc Medical Technology Physicians Assistant
Annette has been in health care services since she graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2003. Though she is a long term resident of the central Connecticut region, after graduation she spent two years in Atlanta as part of the transfusion services of the prestigious Emory University Hospital. Deciding that she wanted to pursue health care at a more advanced level she enrolled in the Physician's Assistant program at Northeastern University. She graduated in August of 2007 and immediately joined our staff, turning down other offers because she believes fervently in the mission of Vanishing Veins. We are delighted to have such an enthusiastic, cheerful and dedicated professional join us. Annette is community oriented and volunteered free medical care at the Sharewood Project while in her training.
Susan Michaud Office Manager
Sue is a long-time and valued member of the practice, having been with Vanishing Veins from its prenatal days. She brings a wealth of experience to her job and has worked in the health care industry for over 20 years. Sue worked at several hospitals in the Connecticut/ Massachusetts region including Brockton Hospital, Goddard Hospital, St Francis Hospital and Manchester Hospital and has also managed Ichor, a clinical research facility. In 1990 she moved into the world of private medical offices and became the practice manager of Gastrocare, the offices of Bruce E. Stein, MD. Her obvious talents led to rapid advancement in this sphere and for 10 years she has been an office/practice manager. A hallmark of her approach is her compassionate understanding of the needs of patients. She has a combination of empathy and competence that is rare to find.
Jacqueline Nyerick, RVT, Vascular Technician Technical Director of Vascular Laboratory
Jackie is a truly seasoned professional, having performed ultrasound for over 15 years. Unlike most ultrasonographers who are jacks of all trades, Jackie has specialized in vascular ultrasound throughout her entire career. Due to this focus she has developed an exceptional level of expertise in this field. She was a long term member of the well known Abington Memorial Hospital in the Philadelphia area until relocating to the Hartford region in 2006, when she joined the staff of Vanishing Veins. Her driving motivation is to find answers to puzzles and it is this attitude that makes her such an accomplished Ultrasonographer.
Lilly Maldonado, RN, Certified Surgical Technologist Surgical Tech, Aesthetic Nurse
Lilly runs our outpatient procedure room where advanced venous procedures are performed. She is yet another one of the practiced professionals at Vanishing Veins. Lilly began working in operating rooms in high school and has worked in the OR continuously for 25 years. In that time she has accumulated a wide range of surgical experience, having spent years in general ORs, Cardiac Surgery and the Trauma Room. In the past 10 years Lilly has focused on the ambulatory setting. It is that unusual combination of extensive experience in both advanced surgical procedures and in the outpatient setting that makes Lilly the ideal professional to head Vanishing Veins's procedure rooms. In June of 2007 she obtained her RN degree from Capital Community College. More recently, with the opening of the Aesthetic Center, Lilly decided to pursue her calling in the world of aesthetic medicine. As a result, she has taken extensive aesthetic training and is now an Aesthetic Nurse at Vanishing Veins.
Eve Russell, CNA Administrative Assistant
Eve has dedicated herself to patient care since her high school days. In 2001 she obtained her certification as a nurse's assistant and in 2002 became certified as a patient administrative assistant. In 2004, she joined the staff of one of the local physician's offices and in February of 2007 she joined Vanishing Veins. Hers is the friendly voice that frequently answers the phone and the friendly face that greets you when you enter our facility. With her selfless attitude she is a great listener and is always willing to go the extra mile for our clients.
Melissa Kmiec, LE Aesthetician
Melissa is a new addition to our practice and Vanishing Veins is lucky to have her. Since graduating from Marist College in 2002 with a BA in biology she has devoted herself to aesthetic care. She obtained her certificate in Aesthetics in 2004 and her certificate in nail care in 2005, both from the Brio Academy. Melissa was the founder and president of Infinite Serenity which oversaw the performance of various aesthetic procedures in several beauty salons. Since joining our staff she has taken advanced training in chemical peels, microdermabrasion and cosmeceutical therapy. She is a devoted outdoorswoman and has more than the usual exposure to sun damage. Perhaps, it is this experience that explains the zeal that she brings to the field of skin care.
